Money Laundering: Court Orders South African Lady To Forfeit $374,355 To FG (Photo)

Justice C.M.A Olatoregun of the Federal High Court, Lagos on Friday, March 4, 2016, convicted Ngqula Nosisi Pam, a South African for money laundering and bulk cash smuggling. The convict was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on February 1, 2016 after her arrest at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport.

The convict had earlier pleaded 'not guilty' but changed her plea to 'guilty' and was consequently convicted by the court. Justice Olatoregun ordered that the convict forfeit the entire sum of $374,355.00 to the Federal Government of Nigeria. The judge also ordered the EFCC to remit the money to the Federal Government Account within 29 days and filed notice of remittance at the court. The Judge admonished the convict to shun illegality in the future.

The one count charge reads: “that you Ngqula Nosisi Pam on or about the 24th of March, 2015 at Murtala Muhammed International Airport within the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court had in possession cash in the sum of Three Hundred and Seventy Four Thousand, Three Hundred and Fifty Five United States of America Dollars ($374,355.00) which you transported from the Republic of South Africa to Lagos; and failed to declare the sum of Three Hundred and Fifty Five United States of America Dollars ($374,355.00) to the officers and men of the Nigeria Customs Service as required under the provisions of section 2(3) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 (as amended by Act No. 1 of 2012 and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 2(5) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 (as amended by Act No. 1 of 2012”.

Aggrieved PDP, APGA members form new party (The disagreement within the Peoples Democratic Party came to a head Tuesday as some members of the party teamed up with others in the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, and other parties to form a new party. The group, which held its maiden meeting in Abuja Tuesday, unanimously adopted Chief Perry Opara as the protem chairman of the proposed party which is named Peoples Mega Party, PMP. Chief Opara was an aide to former political adviser to Goodluck Jonathan, Alhaji Ahmed Gulak, who recently filed a suit against the PDP and the then acting national chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, and secured a judgement ordering Secondus to vacate office as acting chairman on ground that his acting role had elapsed. Addressing the meeting, Chief Opara said the leadership crisis within the PDP which had impacted negatively on its glory and future, had necessitated the need for the Peoples Mega Party, PMP. He explained: “The major people who are in the party are former members of the PDP who are disenchanted by the high level of corruption, high level of impunity and high-handedness in the PDP. ”They have decided to form something very new and they are of the opinion that they should hand over the party to younger elements who are less corrupt and who can fight for the interest of the people. “It does not mean that it is only people from the PDP, we have APGA chairmen from many states of Nigeria identifying with the new party, people from Labour Party, LP, and the Accord Party, AP. ”There are also disenchanted people from the APC that feel that they want a new place and that is what it is. Today marks the birth of this new party.” The proposed party adopted the picture of a human being as its logo, while its slogan is: “Forward Nigeria.” Chief Opara said the new organization would take the next step to approach the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for registration, adding that when registered, the party would focus more of its attention on recruiting the youths who constitute about 54% of the country’s population into it’s fold. The leader of the APGA faction that led its members to the new party, Chief John Agbara, who addressed NEC members, said: “After a wide consultation, we have decided to collapse the structure of APGA to PMP today. We are today full members of ‎the PMP.

Actress Daniella Okeke responds to trolls asking her when she will get married

Ese Oruru, The Emir Of Kano and Those That Choose To Distort The Narrative - FFK

Article by Femi Fani-Kayode. Read below...
All those that are attempting to distort the narrative about the tragic plight of Miss Ese Oruru are evil and we commit them to God's judgement. The facts are as follows. She is 14 years old and not 18 and she was abducted from her home. She did not leave her home freely or of her own volition.
She was cruelly and wickedly carried away and stolen from her parents, family and loved ones and forcefully taken by complete strangers to a distant land that she had never been before on the other side of the country.

This is not a love story about two inseparable young people: it is a story about pedophilia, child abduction, kidnapping, human trafficking, slavery, rape, impunity, wickedness and ritual sex and Emir Sanusi has a case to answer. That little girl has been raped over and over again and she may well have aids, VVF or some other strange sexual disease by now.

Instead of sympathizing with her and considering the fact that she may never be the same again in view of the physical and mental torture and trauma that she has suffered over the last few months, some misguided souls and shameless commentators have the temerity to come to social media and say that she was old enough to "get it" whilst others say that she ''loved it'' and ''wanted it''. I am utterly disgusted and appauld by these sentiments. Where is the humanity of those that speak and think like this? Where is their compassion and where is their soul?
May God judge them and may their own infant daughters be abducted, forcefully Islamised, raped, enslaved and kept against their will as a sex slave in an Emir's palace in the same way that Ese was.
Meanwhile I just watched an AIT video in which 14 year old Ese Oruru's mother claimed that her daughters abductors said that it was the Emir of Kano himself that ordered her daughters abduction and that she was kept in his palace for over one year for his pleasure. If this is true it confirms the suspicion that the Emir is culpable. If what she has said is true it also proves that the Emir is not only a praticing pedophile but also a very sick man and he must be held accountable.

It is important that Emir Sanusi clears the air and tells us precisely what he did with this little girl otherwise we are entitled to assume the worse and believe what Ese's mother has told us. Quite apart from that we are compelled to ask whether this sort of thing has happened before and how widespread it is? How many other little girls have been stolen from their homes and forced to join harems all over the nation?

The famous high society blogger and respected celebrity Miss Linda Ikeji has just exposed yet another case. This time it is a young 17 year old christian girl, by the name of Miss Patience Paul, who has been abducted from her home, parents and loved ones in Benue state, forcefully taken to Sokoto state and kept there against her will in the Sultan's palace.

Evidently we live in a strange country where evil is swept under the carpet and often justified. We live in a country where those that expose such evil abominations and speak truth are demonised, hated, despised and, more often than not, threatened with violence, persecution, intimidation, arrest, spurious criminal investigations and baseless civil court actions. More often than not this is the price of speaking the truth and exposing evil in Nigeria.

There is clearly a conspiracy of silence about the perpetuation of evil in this country amongst the ruling elite. The feeling is that anyone can get away with anything providing they belong to a particular circle and class and providing they have money and power. And it is because they have money and power and they have powerful friends in government and in the political class that they feel that they can silence, crush, kill, abduct, cripple, ruin, sue and jail anybody that tests their will and crosses them or that exposes the truth about their blood-chilling and perverse ways.

That is the reality of Nigeria and it is a sad and sorry one. All I can say is thank God for the media and particularly for the Punch newspaper who started the ball rolling last Sunday. If not for their cover story about Ese with all those pictures on their front page the little girl would not be free and at home with her family today. Instead she would have still been in slavery and captivity at the Emir of Kano's palace.

We should also thank the Nation newspaper particularly for their timely editorial on this issue which was published on 1st March and which raised some pertinent questions and offered wise counsel about the way forward. The Punch, the Nation, AIT, Channels, Tribune, the Sun, Vanguard, Thisday and all the other newspaper titles and television stations in the Nigerian media and social media has done what no-one else or no other group could do.

Not even the Federal Government, the state governments, the political parties, the politicians, the security agencies, the lawyers or the so-called human rights groups could do what they managed to do or achieve what they have achieved. They have helped to secure the freedom of a helpless and defenseless little girl from slavery, torment, humiliation, destruction, death, disease and bondage and they have brought her home safely to her parents. We need more of this. Kudos to them and God bless them all. And may God damn and shame those that chose to remain silent and look the other way.

Power Supply Drops To 2,665MW Due To Explosions, Gas Constraint

Inadequate supply of gas to the power station and explosions at transmission lines in the Lagos area and Jebba have resulted in a drop in electricity generation to 2,665MW, THISDAY has learnt.
THISDAY gathered that with this development, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has directed the 11 distribution companies (Discos) nationwide “not to pick loads to avoid a system collapse”.
Data obtained from a source at TCN on the “Daily Load Analysis and Day Ahead Consumption” for yesterday showed that between 1 am and 6 am on Saturday, generation fell to 2,500MW.
However, between 6 am and 11.59 pm, the hourly dispatch to the Discos rose to 2,721.20MW, thus averaging 2,665.90MW for the whole day.
The chief executive of one of the Discos, who did not want to be named, told THISDAY yesterday that with the abysmally low level of generation, TCN directed the Discos not to pick loads to forestall a system collapse.
“When generation is very low like this, TCN tries to stabilise it and the only way to stabilise it is to balance the load. Right now, we can’t pick any load, otherwise there will be a system collapse,” he said.
TCN had at the beginning of this month announced for the first time that the country generated about 5,074.7MW of electricity.
The attainment of the new record peak generation as well as the highest maximum daily energy of 109,372 megawatts hour (MWH) was recorded on February 2, 2016.
Before this, the previous peak generation was put at 4,883.9MW attained on November 23, 2015, and the previous highest maximum daily energy wheeled out nationwide was 107,142.32MWH recorded on January 26, 2016.
It was however gathered that supply, which later averaged above 4,600MW, has deteriorated in recent weeks due to transmission and gas supply issues.
At the recent second sectoral meeting held in Lagos between the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, and all the operators in the power and gas sectors, TCN had identified 51 transmission issues for resolution in areas like Alaoji, Sokoto, Ahoada, Damaturu, Gbarain, Calabar, Afikpo, Nsukka, Okigwe, Ihiala, Ayede, Ikeja, Ajah, Lekki, Kebbi, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, Makurdi, Kainji, Kafanchan, Otukpo, Hadejia, Wudil, Kumbotso, Bauchi, Gombe, Katsina, Daura, Abuja and Maiduguri.
A source at the National Control Centre (NCC) in Osogbo, Osun State, who spoke to THISDAY yesterday on the condition of anonymity, blamed the poor supply situation on inadequate gas supply to the generation companies and explosions that occurred on the transmission lines in the Lagos and Jebba areas.
He further disclosed that while over 1,500MW was lost in the last three weeks to inadequate gas supply, over 150MW was lost to the collapse of the transmission infrastructure.
“I can confirm to you that power has dropped due to gas constraints and explosions in Lagos and Jebba. One of the transmission towers in Lagos is down and another one is down in Jebba but TCN is working on them,” he said.
The Head of Corporate Communications at Eko Electricity Distribution Company, Mr. Godwin Idemudia, also confirmed at the weekend that “the current power rationing and intermittent outages being experienced in areas under the company’s coverage in the last few weeks was partly due to inadequate bulk electricity load allocation to the company from the national grid”.
According to him, power instability arose from a drop in national generation as a result of the incessant acts of vandalism on gas pipelines and transmission towers.
Idemudia added that the situation was not limited to Eko Disco’s coverage areas alone, adding that since the problem had to do with low generation, all parts of the country were affected.
Idemudia said the situation has led to acute power rationing in all areas within the company’s operational territory, stressing that the areas worst hit include Surulere, Lekki, Ajah, Ibeju, Mushin, Apapa, Yaba and their environs.
“Eko Electricity Distribution Company appeals to all its customers to please bear with the situation, as the company is doing all within its power to ensure fair and equitable distribution of available power to all customers pending improvement in power generation,” Idemudia added.
THISDAY gathered that Eko Disco, which normally gets between 350MW and 400MW daily, got a little over 200MW daily from the grid at the weekend.
Under the terms of the privatisation agreement between the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) and private operators who took over the power assets, electricity generated from national grid is supposed to be shared among the 11 Discos at agreed ratios.
While Eko is allocated 11 per cent, Ikeja gets 15 per cent, Ibadan, 13 per cent; Kano, eight per cent, Abuja 11.5 per cent, Port Harcourt, 6.5 per cent, Enugu, nine per cent, Benin, nine per cent, Kaduna, eight per cent, Jos, 5.5 per cent, and Yola 3.5 per cent.
With the significant drop in supply, some of the Discos now concentrate on channelling supply to mainly high demand (HD) commercial customers whose tariffs are very high.

Graphic: Newborn baby dies after being thrown from 18th floor of an apartment by her mother

A newborn baby died after she was believed to have been thrown from the 18th floor of an apartment in Danau Kota, Malaysia on Monday, February 29.
According to Wangar Maju district police chief superintendent Mohamad Roy Suhaimi Sarif, the baby's mother, 39, allegedly threw her baby from the unit's balcony at 3am.

"We received a distress call on the incident about 8am. The baby girl was already pronounced dead. After scouring the area, police found a placenta around 30-metres away from the body," Sarif told a press conference at the district police station.
The woman who has a five-year-old daughter, was going through a divorce and had rented a room at the apartment from a married couple. The shocked couple claimed not to know that the woman was pregnant as she was plump. They however said they heard her moaning in pain before the incident.
"When the couple tried to help her, the woman shooed them away so they went back to their room. Checks at the house showed blood trails from the toilet leading to the balcony" Sarif added.
The chief superintendent said police would obtain blood samples from the baby's remain.

Buhari’s government is a one-chance bus - Fayose

Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, has described the Buhari led government as a "one-chance bus". Fayose said this in a statement released by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, while reacting to the recent proclamation by Buhari and Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, that the government cannot be fulfill it's election promises.

"Everything Buhari and his party promised Nigerians when they were looking for votes, they have denied and it won’t be a surprise if one day, Buhari comes out to even deny that he was elected on the platform of APC. Nigerians have now realised that they are inside a ‘One Chance Bus’ because Buhari and his APC have disowned their entire campaign promises by disowning their campaign document titled; ‘My Covenant with Nigerians. This document that they disowned in August, last year contained everything they promised Nigerians and if today, President Buhari chose faraway Qatar to announce that he won’t pay the N5,000 promised unemployed youths and Lai Mohammed is here in Nigeria saying no job was promised, no one should be surprised. Rather, Nigerians can only begin to pray that God, who rescued Daniel from den of lions will rescue us from this Buhari/APC one chance bus that we have entered,” he said.

Court Orders Release Of Jonathan’s ADC

Federal High Court in Abuja says the detention of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s ADC by the EFCC without trial is unlawful and that he should be released immediately.

According to Trial Judge, Yusuf Halilu, the EFCC is a statutory government agency set up to save the country from corrupt practices and not to serve as a holding prison for the Nigerian Army under which Colonel Adegbe is still serving.

Justice Halilu ordered the EFCC to release him immediately until it is ready to arraign him before a competent court of jurisdiction.

Justice Halilu, however, struck out two other reliefs sought by Colonel Adegbe asking the EFCC to apologize and pay him 100 million Naira in damages on the grounds that Colonel Adegbe is a serving officer in the Nigerian Army.

Counsel to the former ADC, Mr Ogwu Onoja, had approached the Federal High Court to enforce the fundamental human rights of his client whom he said was still in detention with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) since his arrest two weeks earlier.

Meanwhile, the EFCC filed a 19-page counter affidavit urging the court to dismiss the application, as the applicant’s detention was at the instance of his employer.

Counsel to the applicant however insisted that the fundamental human rights of his client had been violated, irrespective of who he was in their custody.

Drug Suspect tries to escape in abuja airport

National Drug Laws and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Monday rearrested a drug suspect Michael Nwobodo Alli, 31, after breaking through a glass wall in an attempt to escape at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) Abuja.
He was found in possession of 81 pellets of hard drugs packed in a clean Parker Whisky carton along with boxes of chocolates in a duty free bag, spokesman of the anti-narcotic agency Ofoyeju Mitchell said in statement.
The arrest took place during screening of passengers on an Emirates airline flight from Dubai.
As soon as the drug was detected, the suspect took to his heels breaking through a glass wall but was pursued by narcotic officers and apprehended with the help of security officials at the airport.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect resides in Dubai where he works as a technician.
NDLEA commander at the Abuja airport, Mr. Hamisu Lawan said that the suspect sustained minor injuries in the process.
“During routine screening of passengers, the suspect Michael Nwobodo was found with drugs. He immediately started running and broke through a glass wall in an attempt to escape justice.
Our officers ran after him and caught him with the help of other security officials at the airport. It is amazing that he could break through a glass wall but fortunately, he sustained minor injuries and had been treated,” Hamisu stated.
The suspect told investigators that he ran away because he was afraid of arrest. “I live and work in Dubai. I came to Nigeria for my father’s burial but decided to bring the drugs because I needed money.
When the drug was discovered, I ran because I was afraid of arrest. I am ashamed of myself and do not know how to face my friends and relatives”. He hails from Enugu State.
NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive, Col. Muhammad Mustapha Abdallah thanked the officers and members of the airport community for their efforts that led to his re-arrest.
“I am pleased with this arrest. I thank the officers and members of the airport community for their support.
We are prepared to track down drug traffickers and scuttle the activities of drug trafficking organizations,” Abdallah stated.
The suspect will soon be charged to court, the statement said.

Three Die In Lagos Bus Explosion

Tragedy struck at Isolo, Lagos mainland, on Tuesday morning after a bus loaded with several 50 litre kegs of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) exploded, killing three people.
The incident, which occurred at Musiratu Lasisi Street at about 4:30am, was reportedly caused by a brake failure.According to eyewitnesses, the bus was coming from Ikorodu, but had a brake failure along James Oni Street, which made it to nosedive into nearby Musiratu Lasisi Street.

The four- passenger bus, according to eyewitnesses, rammed into a truck parked in front of a bakery and exploded on impact.
A motorcyclist, Femi Ajibola, who said a deafening explosion woke him from sleep at about 5:00am, told The Nation that only the driver of the bus survived the incident.
The motorcyclist said he heard the driver screaming “Alhaja is in the bus” and crying for help.
He said:

“I was sleeping at the top of the building because of heat and suddenly I heard a very loud noise like bomb. So, I looked down and saw fire.
“I woke up my other colleagues and told them that something was wrong and that there was fire. I now went down and removed my motorcycle and that was when I saw one man sitting by the pavement of Kembroz School.
“He was screaming for help, but no one could near him because the fire was much. He came out from the passenger seat and eventually died.
“But the driver also came out of the bus from the other side. He was rescued by people in the Cele church (Celestial Church of Christ) and was taken to Isolo General Hospital.

“The bus had several 50 litre jerry cans and all of them contained petrol. It looks like they are vandals or they went to buy vandalized fuel because there were very few seats in the bus.”

Another eyewitness, Deji Ogunleye, told The Nation that while two corpses were retrieved, the third one was completely dismembered.
He said officials of the Red Cross who got to the scene before other agencies could not do much until the arrival of personnel from the state fire service.

“At first they tried to use fire extinguisher to put out the fire on the body of one of the victims, but they could not achieve much.
“It was one of my church members, Kayode, who rescued the driver of the bus and took him to Isolo General Hospital. But the driver was later moved to Gbagada General Hospital by rescue workers.”

Five Teenagers Underwent Special Spirit Bath After s*x Rounds With Alhaji

THE police detectives attached to ‘A’ Division Police Station Warri, Delta State have arrested five female teenagers and a young lady (name withheld) for alleged s*x trade with one Burkar Hassan.
The arrest of the girls took place last week following a tip-off on their activities around Warri Motor Park during nightfall.
Mother of one of the girls, who pleaded anonymity, told Southern City News that she initiated the arrest when her daughter spent the night outside.
She said, “When I saw them, I knew that they must know about the whereabouts of my daughter who did not pass the night in my house.
“First, it was the first time my daughter, a Primary 3 pupil, did not sleep in my house. I decided to lodge a complaint to the police because we have been hearing
stories about these girls sleeping with one Alhaji for money.”
The police image maker in the state, Mrs. Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the arrest of the teenage girls and a young lady, said they confessed they were given N10, 000 each for the night, adding that the police were on the trail of the Alhaji.
There has been suspicion over the illicit s*x business and fear that it could be fetish as the teenage female s*x hawkers were subjected to special spirit bath after s*x bouts.
Meanwhile, the Delta State Universal Basic Education Board has relieved the Head teacher of Ojojo Primary School in Warri South Local Government Area of the state, Mrs. Konboye Mowoe, of her position for allegedly extorting money from pupils of the school.
The Executive Chairman of the Board, Mr. Sunny Ogwu, who confirmed this to Southern City News, said the decision of the board was informed by the overwhelming evidence against the headmistress.
Ogwu said the headmistress had been directed to hand over the administration of the school to her assistant, Miss Sule Taibat, in charge of academic, with immediate effect.
While describing the action of some of the pupils who attended classes in mufti as absurd, the board chairman disclosed that on enquiry, the pupils alleged that they were not given school uniforms after they had made payments.
When asked how much they paid, they claimed they paid N1, 500 for school uniform and N2, 500 for other levies making a total of N4, 000 that the affected pupils paid to the authority of the school.
The embattled head teacher confirmed to the chairman in her explanation that the school was collecting N1, 500 from pupils for school uniform, another N1, 500 for inter-house sports and N750 per pupil as PTA levy, adding that she got authority to collect the levy from the PTA of the school.

Photo: Young unmarried couple publicly caned for spending time alone

18 people were publicly caned today Tuesday, March 1 for breaking Islamic law in Indonesia's Aceh province. Among them was a young unmarried couple who were caught spending time alone together. The punishment was meted out by a hooded man with a rattan cane on a stage next to the mosque in Banda Aceh, before a large, enthusiastic cheering crowd.
According to AP, the young couple aged 19 and 21 were given eight strokes each after they were found spending time alone together, which is against the law for unmarried Muslim couples in the province.
While authorities did not disclose the offenses committed by the others, six young men were also caned 40 times each after they were caught drinking alcohol, which violates Islamic law, at a birthday party in a hotel room.
Public caning happens on a regular basis in Aceh, the only province in the world's most populous Muslim-majority country to implement Islamic syariah law, but is less common for women.
Aceh began implementing shariah law after being granted special autonomy in 2001, an effort by the central government in Jakarta to quell a long-running separatist insurgency.

Court orders Obasanjo, Yar'Adua, Jonathan's government to account for stolen funds

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former president Goodluck Jonathan and late President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua's government to account for all the loots they recovered during their administrations, Vanguard reports.

Delivering judgement in a Freedom of Information suit filed by Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) today March 1st, the presiding judge, Justice M.B. Idris, ruled that successive governments since the return of democracy in 1999 “breached the fundamental principles of transparency and accountability for failing to disclose details about the spending of recovered stolen public funds, including on a dedicated website.”

He thereafter ordered that President Buhari “ensures that his government, and the governments of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, and former President Goodluck Jonathan account fully for all recovered loot.”.

Details ordered by the court to be made public include: information on the total amount of recovered stolen public assets by each government; the amount of recovered stolen public assets spent by each government as well as the objects of such spending and the projects on which such funds were spent

Moscow nanny beheaded 4yr old girl because she was angry her husband had taken another wife

38 year old mother of three, Gyulchekhra Bobokulova yesterday showed police the flat in Moscow, Russia where she killed 4 year old Nastya Meshcheryakova (bottom right), after which she was seen walking the streets of Moscow brandishing the dead girl's head for an hour before she was arrested. It was claimed that she was extremely angry that her husband had taken another wife in another country while she was working in Russia but she told police she was haunted by 'voices' in her head.

A police source said the woman, a citizen of Uzbekistan showed police where she'd committed the crime. It's believed that she'd strangled the girl before using a kitchen knife to behead her.

A police source also said the nanny had become 'almost a member of the family' of the young girl she murdered and was caring for her all day while the mother and father worked. The parents are said to be beyond devastated
